INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 (12-ounce) bottle of beer (I really like Leinenkugel’s Honey Weiss)
- 1/2 cup melted butter, divided
WARNINGAltering this recipe by using different types of beer or adding various mix-ins, such as cheese, fruits, or nuts, may result in an exceptionally delicious creation. Create with caution.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease bottom and sides of a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan. Set aside.
- In a large bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add beer and 1/4 cup of the melted butter. Stir just until moistened.
- Spoon batter into prepared pan. Pour remaining 1/4 cup melted butter over top of dough.
- Bake until surface is golden brown, 50 to 55 minutes. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Serve warm or cool.
Chef Tip: If the beer you’re using comes in a 11.2 ounce bottle, add 1-1/2 tablespoons water to the batter.
