Singapore Sling

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ounce gin
  • 1/4 ounce Benedictine
  • 1/4 ounce Grand Marnier or Cointreau
  • 1/2 ounce Cherry Heering, Cherry Sangue Morlacco, or any cherry brandy liqueur
  • 4 ounces fresh pineapple juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • 1/3 ounce Grenadine
  • Club soda, chilled, to top
  • Pineapple slice, for garnish
  • Maraschino cherry, for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add the gin, Benedictine, Grand Marnier, Cherry Heering, pineapple juice, lime juice, bitters, and Grenadine into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
  2. Strain into a Hurricane glass over fresh ice, top with club soda. 
  3. Garnish with a pineapple slice and maraschino cherry.

  • The Singapore Sling was created at Singapore’s Raffles Hotel in 1915. Developed by Ngiam Tong Boon, the drink was designed to resemble fruit juice as, at the time, women weren’t allowed to drink alcohol in public.
  • The Singapore Sling is widely regarded as the national drink of Singapore.
